
ONSLOW, N.C. — A 16-month-old boy was found unconscious and submerged in water inside a container on a home’s front porch, according to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
Child Reported Missing Near Jacksonville
Deputies were dispatched around Dec. 11 to the 200 block of Old Timber Road, near Jacksonville, following a report of a missing toddler. The child, identified as a 16-month-old boy, was located shortly after deputies arrived at the residence.
Authorities say the child was found unconscious inside a water-filled container on the front porch.
First Responders Attempt Lifesaving Measures
Upon discovering the child, deputies immediately began lifesaving efforts while waiting for Emergency Medical Services to arrive. The child was then transported to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune for emergency treatment.
Despite those efforts, officials confirmed the child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigation Ongoing
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing. At this time, no additional details have been released, and authorities have not stated whether charges are expected.
