Her visit to North Carolina follows the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, which claimed approximately 230 lives, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted essential services like power and communication. The Vice President’s efforts also included collaborating with volunteers to prepare relief supplies for affected residents.

As Harris goes to North Carolina, she plans to attend church on Sunday as part of a “Souls to the Polls” event in Greenville, a city with a population of about 90,000. This initiative aims to encourage voter turnout among communities of color and mobilize support ahead of early voting, which begins on Thursday. Her visit highlights the importance of rallying support in this battleground state, which many Democrats believe could swing in their favor.
Addressing Economic Concerns and Relief Efforts
At the rally on Sunday, Harris will focus on economic recovery and relief efforts, stressing the administration’s commitment to the people of North Carolina. One of her key messages has been opposing price gouging in the aftermath of the hurricanes. “To any company or individual using this crisis to jack up prices through illegal means, we will be monitoring, and there will be consequences,” Harris stated during a briefing.
