WSSU Teams up with NASCAR for innovative New partnership.

WINSTON -SALEM, N•C( WGHP)- Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has become the first college in North Carolina to offer the NASCAR Campus Lab Program, announced on October 8, 2024. This initiative aims to provide students with hands-on experience in the motorsports industry, which began with Bethune -cookman university in 2023, enhancing their career opportunities.

The vice president of NASCAR Diversity and inclusion,Brandom Thompson said, the campus Lab program adds to the legacy and impact that WSSU has on NASCAR . Earlier this year , NASCAR disclosed the return of the clash exhibition to Bowman Gray stadium home of the Rams football team, in more than 5 decades.

Winston state university university is the only public university and historically- Black college/ university to offer a motorsport management degree program , which complete NASCAR’S drive for diversity program to include more minorities and women in the higher levels of motorsports.

WSSU teaming up with NASCAR will be beneficiary and had a huge impact to the students.

Students who are accepted to the program will get real- world experience developing a marketing activation while managing a set budget provided by NASCAR, so many opportunities are attached to the NASCAR initiative.

Starting in Spring 2025, 15 students, primarily sophomores and juniors, will be selected for this program and will receivea $ 3,500 scholarship at the end. Winners of the case study competition will receive an additional$1,500. To wrap this up, one student will have a chance at a spot in NASCAR’S Diversity internship program. The application closes on November 1.
