GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Salvation Army of Greensboro (SAoG) has received its largest-ever single donation: a $5 million grant from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez through the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund. This milestone gift, announced Monday, marks a significant boost in efforts to combat family homelessness in the Greensboro area.
Supporting Families in Need
Captain Chris Raymer, Corps Officer of the Salvation Army of Greensboro, expressed gratitude for the transformative contribution. “What a way to end our 120th year of service to the Greensboro community with this incredible gift,” Raymer said. “This funding will allow us to make an even greater impact, helping families transition from the streets to stable housing.”
The $5 million will be strategically allocated over the next five years, with $1 million used annually to expand the organization’s Pathway to Success program. This initiative will assist 30 families each year, providing them with housing stability and support.
