Sports: Washington Commanders, Magic win first playoff game

TAMPA,FLA.(AP)- The Washington Commanders, whose name was Magic Johnson has achieved a significant milestone by winning their first playoff game since 2006, defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20.

The victory was secured with a dramatic 37-yard field goal by Zane Gonzalez as time expired. The Buccaneers couldn’t get 1 yards on 2 tries from the commander and settled for a field goal to tie the game, before Washington winning drives, Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns, leading the team to this historic win after a 19-year postseason drought.

Washington hadn’t won in the post season since beating the Buccaneers in Tampa bay 17-10 in a world card game on January 7, 2006.

The Commanders will face the top-seeded Detroit Lions in the divisional round next week.
