This marks the 3rd time in just four years that the Tar Heel State has earned this distinction, solidifying its place as a national leader in business climate, workforce strength, and economic growth.

The CNBC study evaluated all 50 states across ten key categories, including workforce, infrastructure, cost of doing business, economy, education, and business friendliness. North Carolina stood out particularly for its strong economy, growing workforce, and commitment to innovation and infrastructure investment.

Governor Josh Stein praised the announcement, stating that the recognition “reflects the hard work, vision, and collaboration across the public and private sectors to make North Carolina a place where businesses can thrive.”

Greensboro and the surrounding Triad region continue to play a major role in that success. With multi-billion-dollar projects like JetZero’s advanced manufacturing facility and steady investments in clean energy and logistics, the area has become a magnet for job creation and economic activity.

Still, the report didn’t shy away from highlighting challenges. While North Carolina shines for businesses, CNBC noted that worker protections and wage equity continue to trail, a concern echoed by labour advocates.

Despite that, business leaders remain optimistic. “Our ability to attract talent, build partnerships, and support startups and global companies alike is why North Carolina keeps winning,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.

With a balanced mix of affordability, opportunity, and forward-thinking leadership, North Carolina continues to raise the bar, making it a good place to do business and the best in the nation.
