GREENSBORO, N.C. — July 15, 2025
A Greensboro man appeared before a judge on Monday, accused of fatally stabbing his mother inside their family home.

Jut Kopa, 27, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 52-year-old mother, Nhoan Kopa. Police say they were called to the home on Towers Road early in the morning after receiving reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found the woman critically injured. She was transported to the hospital but later died from her wounds.
According to court documents, Jut Kopa initially told officers he had found his mother unresponsive and called 911. However, after further investigation, authorities charged him with her murder. Police have not released details about what led to the stabbing, but they confirmed that the incident was domestic and that no other suspects are being sought.
Kopa first appeared in Guilford County Court on Monday, where a judge ordered him held on a $1 million bond. He showed little emotion during the hearing and did not speak, except to confirm his identity. His next court date has been set for a bond review hearing next week.
