Crowds Pack Whataburger in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — July 31, 2025

Large crowds filled the new Whataburger restaurant in Greensboro over the weekend following its grand opening on Thursday.

Located at 4409 West Wendover Avenue, the Greensboro location is the first Whataburger to open in the Triad. The Texas-based fast food chain officially opened to the public at 9:30 a.m., and customers began lining up early. Throughout the weekend, the restaurant saw steady traffic in the drive-thru and dining areas.

Local outlets shared video showing long lines and packed tables as residents turned out to try Whataburger’s signature menu items, including the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit and the Whataburger patty melt.

The opening is part of a larger expansion plan for Whataburger in North Carolina. Company representatives say more locations are expected in the region over the next year.

No major incidents were reported during the weekend, and staff members said they were pleased with the turnout.

The Greensboro location will operate 24 hours a day and is expected to continue drawing strong crowds in the coming weeks
