
GREENSBORO, N.C. — A tragic accident has claimed the life of a driver in Greensboro after their vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree, according to police. Authorities confirmed that the driver dies after car goes off Pembroke Road late Friday evening.
The crash occurred around 5:28 p.m. near Pembroke Road and Chatham Drive. Greensboro Police, along with Greensboro Fire and Guilford County EMS, responded to the scene. Investigators said the vehicle, a Ford Focus sedan, was traveling east on Pembroke Road when it ran off the roadway at its end. The car struck a barrier before continuing into a wooded area, where it collided with a tree.
Driver Dies After Car Goes Off Pembroke Road
The driver, whose name has not yet been released, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Police noted that impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time.
Officials added that the incident remains under investigation as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
The Greensboro Police Department is expected to release the driver’s identity once family members have been notified.
