Tuesday night, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Autry Mill Road near U.S. 13. Investigators reported that the driver of a 2004 Ford Expedition ran off the roadway, overcorrected, and struck a ditch before crashing into a tree. The SUV flipped several times and landed in a nearby yard.
Authorities confirmed that the female driver was taken to Wake Medical Center. Three juvenile passengers were ejected from the vehicle, and two were hospitalized with unknown injuries. Tragically, a 3-year-old boy died from his injuries sustained during the crash.
