NC Detention Center Officer Charged With Assault

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Buncombe County Detention Facility officer has been arrested and placed on administrative leave after allegedly assaulting a woman, according to officials.

The Asheville Police Department confirmed that on Tuesday, Detention Facility Officer Trayvis Williams was taken into custody and charged with assault on a female, a misdemeanor under North Carolina law.

The charge stems from an incident that authorities have not yet publicly detailed. No additional information about the victim or the circumstances of the alleged assault has been released.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Responds

Following the arrest, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office announced that Williams has been placed on administrative leave pending further review.
