GREENSBORO, N.C. — The online community and residents of Columbus, Georgia, are mourning the sudden death of 24-year-old TikTok sensation Marquay Collins, known to millions as “MarquayTheGoat.” Collins passed away Wednesday morning, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Young TikTok Influencer with 7 Million Followers
Collins rose to internet fame through comedy, dance videos, and relatable content posted on TikTok, where he built a massive audience of more than 7 million followers. His growing influence placed him among the most recognized young creators from the Columbus area.
A graduate of Shaw High School’s Class of 2019, Collins was remembered locally for his humor, creativity, and positive spirit—qualities that also fueled his online success.
Recent Car Accident May Have Played a Role
Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed that Collins was involved in a car accident in Atlanta earlier this month. Although he was admitted to a hospital, he was released the same day. However, in the days leading up to his death, Collins reportedly complained to his brother about persistent headaches, shortness of breath, and pain in his neck, shoulder, and spine—symptoms that raised concerns about possible internal injuries.
Authorities have not established a direct connection between the accident and his death, but the timeline has prompted further investigation.
Cause of Death Still Undetermined
The case is currently classified as undetermined, and officials say additional medical analysis is necessary. An autopsy will be performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Decatur to determine the cause of death and whether complications from the car crash may have contributed.
