20-Year-Old Accused of Fatally Shooting His Father in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his father inside a Greensboro home on Sunday night, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

Police Respond to Shooting on West Terrell Street

Officers and emergency personnel were called to the 700 block of West Terrell Street around 7:34 p.m. on Sunday. When they arrived, they found 59-year-old Chris Ratliff unresponsive with a gunshot wound inside the residence. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Son Identified as the Suspect and Arrested at the Scene

Investigators quickly identified the victim’s son, 20-year-old Pretance Joquann Ratliff, as the suspect in the fatal shooting. According to police, he was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

He is now facing a murder charge and is being held without bond.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the shooting. The investigation remains active, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
