One Person Killed in Shooting Outside 24-Hour Daycare in Charlotte

GREENSBORO, N.C. — One person dead following an early-morning shooting outside a 24-hour daycare center in southeast Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Shooting Reported on North Sharon Amity Road

Police say the shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, in the 2300 block of North Sharon Amity Road. Officers were dispatched to the area after receiving a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon involving injuries.

When officers arrived, they found one person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Victim Dies at Local Hospital

Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where officials later confirmed the person died from their injuries. The victim’s identity has not been released.

Daycare Closed Following Shooting

The shooting took place outside Tender Hearts Child Care, a daycare facility that operates 24 hours a day. While no children were reported injured, the daycare temporarily closed following the incident as police investigated the scene.
