North Carolina Woman Accused of Embezzling More Than $8,000

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Henderson woman is facing multiple charges after state investigators accused her of embezzling thousands of dollars from the Vance County Tax Office, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

State Investigation Launched Into Missing Tax Funds

Officials said SBI agents were asked to assist the Vance County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 4, 2025, following reports of possible embezzlement involving county tax funds.

Former Tax Specialist Arrested and Charged

As the investigation progressed, agents arrested Brianna Keele Anderson on Friday. Court records indicate Anderson was working as a tax collection specialist at the time of the alleged offenses.

She has been charged with three counts of embezzlement of taxes by an officer.

According to court documents, Anderson is accused of stealing more than $8,544 belonging to the Vance County Tax Office. Investigators have not released additional details about how the funds were allegedly taken.



Bond Set, Court Date Scheduled

The SBI said Anderson was released after her first court appearance on Friday on a $105,000 bond. Records show she is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 20.
