Charlotte Airport Parking: 2 Officers Among Three Others Injured in 2-Alarm Fire

CHARLOTTE — According to a report from Queen City News, a two-alarm fire gutted the Charlotte Airport parking deck Saturday morning, sending three people to the hospital, including two police officers. The call came in just before 9:30 a.m. at 5488 Josh Birmingham Parkway.

Firefighters responded to find heavy smoke and flame from the hourly parking deck. The fire destroyed four vehicles on the fourth level. An estimation of $105,000 in losses was made from the blaze.

Of the injured, one officer was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, and a second officer and a civilian were treated and released on scene.

Fire Accident at Charlotte Airport Parking

At 10:17 a.m., officials at the Charlotte Airport announced that all parking operations and roadways have reopened, except the fourth floor of the hourly parking deck. Also, the area above the affected part on the fifth floor has been closed as a precautionary measure.

The investigators have determined that the fire was of an accidental nature, originating from the engine compartment of one of the vehicles.

Travellers are advised to keep an eye on parking availability and receive updates about the situation at the airport.
