GREENSBORO, N.C. — Overnight snowfall led to multiple crashes across the Piedmont Triad early Thursday, creating hazardous driving conditions during the morning commute.

In Winston-Salem, an early morning crash shut down two northbound lanes of US 421 between Stratford Road and Miller Street. Those lanes have since reopened. Another crash was reported on US 52 North near Research Parkway, which has also been cleared.

Kernersville and High Point Incidents

In Kernersville, a collision involving a car and a tractor-trailer temporarily closed the on-ramp from US 421 to Interstate 74 East. The lanes have reopened.

In High Point, a vehicle crashed on the US 29 South on-ramp to I-74 East, landing in an embankment off the roadway.

The Winston-Salem Police Department issued a warning to drivers about dangerous black ice conditions across the city, noting several single-vehicle crashes caused by icy roads.
