Fort Bragg, N.C. — President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are scheduled to visit Fort Bragg this week to meet with military personnel and their families, the White House confirmed Tuesday.
During a White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the president and first lady will be on the base Friday, Feb. 13, to recognize special forces members who participated in the operation that led to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
“I know the president and first lady are both greatly looking forward to this visit,” Leavitt said at the briefing, emphasizing the administration’s intent to honor the soldiers involved and meet with their families.
The planned visit will include interactions with the troops who played roles in the Venezuelan operation and provide the president an opportunity to deliver remarks recognizing their service, according to local reporting.

The U.S. Army’s special operations forces, including the elite 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (Delta Force), were reported to be central to the mission that resulted in Maduro’s capture earlier this year, a dramatic military action that drew international attention.
Trump’s stop at Fort Bragg is part of a broader effort by the administration to publicly acknowledge the contributions of U.S. troops involved in overseas operations and highlight military achievements.
No additional public events around the visit have been announced at this time.
