FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man was arrested Tuesday in Rural Hall after deputies say he led law enforcement on a chase that ended in a crash and a break-in.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported breaking on Webster Road in Mount Airy. Authorities located a vehicle matching the suspect description and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Fredrick Renard Victor Reed, 38, of Winston-Salem, allegedly fled, leading deputies and officers from nearby agencies on a pursuit along U.S. Highway 52 South.

Officials say Reed crashed near the 1400 block of Aurora Glen Drive, abandoned the vehicle, and ran into an unoccupied home. After about an hour, deputies took him into custody.

Reed faces multiple charges, including;

1. felony fleeing to elude arrest,

2. speeding,

3. failure to heed lights and sirens,

4. injury to personal property,

5. possession of drug paraphernalia,

6. breaking a motor vehicle, and possession of stolen goods.

He is being held at the Surry County Detention Center under a $110,000 bond.

Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. said agencies worked together to ensure community safety, adding that law enforcement will continue cooperating across county lines to keep residents safe.
