The fatal crash occurred on April 30, 2022, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and U.S. Highway 52. Carl Alrena Holland was riding his motorcycle eastbound when Silva, driving a Chevy Tahoe with a trailer, made a left turn onto the on-ramp toward U.S. 52. This manoeuvre led to a collision with Holland, resulting in blunt-force trauma injuries that proved fatal at the scene.
The Winston-Salem Police Department determined that the accident was caused by Silva’s failure to yield the right of way to Holland. In addition to the misdemeanour charge, Silva also pleaded guilty to driving with a revoked licence.
