(WGHP) — A shocking case of child abuse has emerged in Walkertown, where James Wilford Huff, 34, has been charged with intentionally inflicting serious injury on his four-year-old stepson. This incident highlights the severe consequences of child abuse, particularly cases involving burning young children.

On July 21, just before midnight, deputies from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding suspected child abuse at a home in Walkertown. Upon arrival, they discovered that the young boy had suffered serious burns after being placed into a tub of scalding hot water. Initial reports suggested that the child had accidentally pulled a pot of boiling water off the stove, but further investigation revealed a more alarming scenario.

According to court documents, the boy was intentionally placed into the hot water by Huff, resulting in severe burns on the lower part of his body. This horrifying act of violence has led to Huff being held on a $300,000 bond.

Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough emphasised the seriousness of the situation, stating, “Any threat or harm to our children becomes a priority to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Today, we arrested Wilford Huff and charged him with intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury. Our most precious asset is our children, who are our future, and the FCSO will do everything earthly possible to serve and protect them.”
