The case against the three suspects charged in the murder of Greensboro Police Sgt. Philip Dale Nix has been moved from district to Superior Court after a grand jury indictment. The suspects, Jamere Justice Foster, John Walter Morrison, and Zquriah Lepearce Blackwell, faced a grand jury on Monday September 9, 2024and now face additional charges:
- Jamere Justice Foster was indicted for first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession and intent to sell cocaine, and assault while in jail.
- John Walter Morrison was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
- Zquriah Lepearce Blackwell faces a charge of accessory after the fact.
Sgt. Nix was shot and killed in December 2023 while off-duty after he witnessed the suspects stealing beer from a Sheetz store. He approached them, and Foster allegedly shot him five times. There is no timeline yet on when the three will be back in court for the next steps in the Superior Court process.
