A retired Greensboro police officer, Eric Rasecke, has revealed that he interacted with Ryan Routh, the man accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, over 100 times during his law enforcement career. Routh, who has a lengthy criminal history, was known for various offenses, including a past incident in 2002 where he barricaded himself in his roofing business armed with an automatic rifle. Rasecke noted that while their encounters were frequent, they never escalated to violence.
Routh’s recent arrest in Florida is linked to an alleged plot to kill Trump at a golf course. His political views have shifted dramatically over time; he previously supported Trump but later expressed vehement opposition to him. In a self-published book, Routh made inflammatory statements about Trump and suggested that Iran could “assassinate” him as well.
Routh’s erratic behavior and political beliefs have raised concerns among those familiar with him, including Rasecke, who remarked on the significant changes he has observed in Routh since their earlier interactions.
