A Woman was set ablaze on New York subway

NEW YORK(WPIX)- A woman died after she was being set on fire while sleeping on a New York City subway on December 22, 2024. It is said that the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on an F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn

A woman who was set ablaze on New York subway , will be identify by her teeth as she was badly burnt

An unidentified man approached her and ignited her clothing with a lighter before fleeing the scene. Surveillance video from the Subway car shows how the man quietly walked up to the victim, who was seated unconsciously, possibly sleeping and set her clothing on fire with what appeared at the video called “Lighter” which really engulfed within a second.

The officers at the station reportedly said, they smelt and saw smoke coming out of the train, and the emergency responders extinguished the flames, but unfortunately the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman hasn’t been identified yet, as authorities said, investigators may have have to rely on her teeth in order to identify her as she was seriously burnt

A person of interest was later taken into custody after being recognized by high school students who called 911.
