NEW YORK CITY( WPIX)- Amazon workers at seven facilities across the New York city, US are rallying alongside with the international brotherhood of teamsters labor union initiated a strike on December 19, 2024, demanding a labor agreement during the critical holiday shopping season. The strikes start at exact 6:00am at the Staten Island.

The strike follows Amazon’s failure to meet a December 15 deadline for contract negotiations. Locations include warehouses in San Francisco and delivery stations in cities like New York, Atlanta, and Skokie, Illinois. The reason behind this strikes is to pressure the e-commerce company for a labor agreement during the key shopping period.
The Teamsters is said to have represent nearly 10,000 workers at these sites, a small fraction of Amazon’s workforce. Amazon claims the strike will not disrupt operations during this peak period. The workers aim is to address note issues such as higher wages, improved benefits and safer working conditions for the warehouse workers.
