GREENSBORO, N.C. — A deadly shooting at a gas station on Indianapolis’ east side has left one teen dead and an entire neighborhood shaken after another violent early-morning encounter.
Authorities say 18-year-old Brandon Easley was killed just before 2 a.m. Sunday during a burst of gunfire outside a convenience store in the 400 block of North Bradley Avenue. What began as a quiet night quickly erupted into chaos as shots rang out between people standing on the gas station lot and someone inside a passing vehicle.
Deadly Crossfire in a Troubled Neighborhood
When FOX59/CBS4 reporter Russ McQuaid approached a resident sitting on his porch near the crime scene, the man didn’t mince words about the dangers surrounding him.
“You packin’? Cuz if you ain’t got your gun with you, these people out here will take you off,” he warned.
He said young people running around armed has become a constant reality in the neighborhood — and Sunday’s killing was another grim reminder of that truth.
Police: Shots Fired From Car, Returned From the Lot
IMPD Capt. Rob Rider confirmed the sequence of events:
- A vehicle pulled into the street in front of the gas station
- A group of people were gathered on the lot
- Someone inside the vehicle opened fire
- People on the lot fired back
The shootout left large bullet holes in the store’s front windows, additional damage on a gas pump, and markings on the wall above the drink cooler.
Witness Enrique Morey said he heard “a whole lot of gunshots — probably two dozen.”

Store security cameras captured both angles of the gunfire.
Outside Footage
A group of people approached the front door before ducking for cover as shots were fired.
Easley was hit and collapsed near the car he arrived in.
Inside Footage
Another person drew a handgun and fired multiple shots from behind the snack racks, shooting toward the front of the store and the attackers outside.
Glass later blanketed the sidewalk where Morey stood, describing the chaos.
“Luckily, it happened when it did,” Morey said, pointing at the bullet holes. “A lot more people could’ve been hit.”
