GREENSBORO, N.C. — On Friday, Cone Elementary School dismissed its students at noon due to a ‘major plumbing issue,’ according to a statement from Guilford County Schools.
Officials explained that the plumbing failure required the school’s power to be turned off, making it unsafe to continue normal operations. As a result, administrators made the decision to release students early.
School leaders confirmed that all students were served lunch before dismissal. Teachers and staff members remained on campus until every child was safely picked up.
Classes to Resume Monday
Despite the disruption, the school system announced that Cone Elementary is expected to return to its regular schedule on Monday. Maintenance crews are addressing the plumbing issue to ensure the building is fully operational before classes resume.
