Diondre Overton, greensboro native, shot and killed at party.

Diondre Overton, a 26-year old and former wide receiver for the Clemon tigers football team, was shot and killed at a house party in his hometown of greensboro, north Carolina early Saturday morning.

According to the Guilford county sheriff’s office, deputies responded to reports of a loud party and noise disturbance at the 3200 block, including shot fired, around 2:30am, on spring mill road Overton was found shot at the scene and pronounced dead despite medical aid.

The sheriff’s office is investigation Overton’s death as a homicide and has urged anyone with information or who attended the party to come forward and give concrete information regarding the incident.

overton was a reserve on Clemson’s national championship teams in 2016 and 2018. He finished his college career with 52 catches for 777 yards and seven touchdowns. His best game came against Boston college in 2019 when he tied a school record with three touchdown receptionist and had a career- high 119 receiving yards.

After going undrafted by the NFL Overton played professionally in the USFL in 2022 and 2023. He was most recently selected by the Memphis franchise in the UFL dispersal drafting January.

The clemson coach, Dabo Swinney called Overton’s death “senseless ” and he honoured him before the tigers game against Appalachian state.
