Gas station employee shoots  a suspected shoplifter in Winston Salem

  WINSTON – SALEM,N•C(WGHP)-  A gas station employee in Winston-Salem shot a man named , Alvis Viotis Hackney, after observing him shoplifting on October 29, 2024.

At around 6:50 a.m on Tuesday, officers came to the Mobil Gas station on 500 Akron Drive after getting a report of a shooting.

According to what the  statement made by the investigators, they said the employee whose name was Katherine Harris saw a man shoplifting in the store and  approached  Hackney outside the Mobil station and discharged her firearm, hitting him. Hackney fled but was later found with non-life-threatening injuries and charged with misdemeanor larceny. He declined to pursue charges related to the shooting incident.
