Greensboro Hockey Club unveiled new name

GREENSBORO ,N.C.( WGHP)- The Greensboro Pro Hockey Club has officially been renamed the Greensboro Gargoyles. This announcement was made on January 14, 2025, during a press conference where the team’s logo and colors were also unveiled.

The Gargoyles are owned and operated by Zawyer sports & Entertainment, which is led by CEO Andy Kaufman in which he made a statement that, The Opportunity to bring professional hockey back to Greensboro is really exciting.

The Gargoyles will compete in the ECHL as the league’s 30th franchise, beginning their season in October 2025 at First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The name and logo were inspired by community input, reflecting a stone creature that symbolizes protection over the city.

It is said that, in the coming months, the Gargoyles will introduce their Mascot along with exclusive merchandise, including Jersey also, a head coach will be added in the spring/early summer this year.
