Remembering Ethan Harrell: High School Student-Athlete Dies
Ethan Harrell was an 11th grader at Boiling Springs High School, where he played as a pitcher and first baseman on the baseball team. His head coach, Jeff Lipscomb, remembered him fondly, stating, “He had a great sense of humour and loved talking about trucks, motors, and hunting. Ethan was a great team player that everyone loved.”
The school community is mourning the loss of Harrell, with Spartanburg County School District Two providing counsellors and special services team members on-site at Boiling Springs High School for students and staff. Principal Zack McQuigg expressed the sentiments of many, stating, “He was always positive, well-mannered, and was loved and respected by his peers as well as the faculty and staff at BSHS.
I’ve never heard anyone say a negative word about Ethan, and he always represented his family and school community in a positive manner. He will be missed dearly.”
In response to this tragedy, district officials announced that they will continue to provide grief resources for as long as necessary at the Boiling Springs High School campus.
