Kristi Noem Says Woman Shot by ICE Committed “Act of Domestic Terrorism”

GREENSBORO, N.C. — U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said a woman fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis committed an “act of domestic terrorism” prior to being killed during a confrontation with federal agents.

Deadly Encounter on Residential Minneapolis Street

According to officials, ICE agents exited a truck in traffic and approached a woman sitting inside a Honda Pilot on a residential street in Minneapolis. One agent ordered the driver to exit the vehicle.

Video of the incident shows the woman backing up the SUV and then moving forward. An ICE agent fired shots into the windshield, and the vehicle crashed into a parked car shortly afterward.

The woman was struck in the face and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Her identity has not been released.

Conflicting Accounts From Federal Officials

Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told TMZ that ICE agents were injured during the encounter but were expected to recover. However, video footage circulating online does not clearly show significant physical contact before the shots were fired.

ICE officials have not released additional details about the alleged injuries.

Noem Defends Agents, Cites “Defensive” Action

Speaking at a press conference near the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas later Wednesday, Noem said the ICE agents acted “defensively.” She claimed the woman attempted to run over or ram officers with her vehicle.

Noem also criticized so-called sanctuary cities and states, arguing that limits on cooperation with federal immigration enforcement protect dangerous individuals.

Call to Denounce Violence Against Law Enforcement

Noem urged elected officials nationwide to condemn acts of violence against law enforcement officers, framing the incident as part of broader concerns over officer safety amid increased immigration enforcement operations.
