
Greensboro city leaders have announced the appointment of Judge Lora Cubbage as New City Attorney.
Cubbage brings a wealth of legal experience to the role. Most recently, she served as a Superior Court judge in North Carolina’s 24th Judicial District. Before that, she was an Assistant Attorney General at the North Carolina Department of Justice and an Assistant District Attorney in Guilford County.
In her new position, Cubbage will represent the city’s public safety departments and oversee legislative lobbying efforts at the state level.

The Greensboro City Attorney’s Office welcomed her with a post noting her familiarity with local and state government, and her readiness to “hit the ground running” in managing legal matters impacting the community.
Mayor and city officials expressed confidence that Cubbage’s courtroom background and public sector experience will strengthen the city’s legal team and enhance its legislative advocacy.
Cubbage’s selection was made official on July 8, 2025, marking a new chapter for the city’s legal affairs.
