JACKSONVILLE, FLA(QUEEN CITY NEWS )-Demaurea Grant, a 29- year old man was arrested in Gastonia, North Carolina, for allegedly fatally shooting off-duty Florida corrections officer Bradley McNew on Saturday October 12. McNew who intervened to assist a woman being assaulted by Grant when he was shot. At about 7:30AM on Sunday morning, the U•S Marshals Fugitive task force arrested Demaurea Grant at 212 North Highland street in Gastonia where he was found and immediately arrested.

Documents shows that Grant has been involved in some criminal cases in North Carolina history, it is said that ,he is an assault on government officials multiple times in 2013 and 2019. Records also reveal that he was charged with first degree murder in 2018.
Grant faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently awaiting extradition to Florida. Sheriff T.K. Waters expressed hope for accountability following the incident. Detectives are still interviewing the woman about the incident as the case is an active investigation.
