WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR)- Former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz has withdrawn his name from consideration as President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general nominee. In Gaetz’s statement, he said his meeting with senators on Wednesday went well, but Trump’s DoJ must be in place and ready on day one. Senator Kevin Cramer ( R.N.D)said, it’s time to move on. And I look forward to a new nominee, we can get fully behind, said Cramer.

He cited concerns that his nomination was becoming a “distraction” amid ongoing scrutiny related to allegations of misconduct, including sexual misconduct and drug-related offenses. Gaetz emphasized the need for a swift transition and expressed his commitment to supporting Trump’s presidency, stating that the Department of Justice must be ready on Day 1.
However, There’s no word yet on who president -elect, Trump will elect as his new pick for attorney general.
