Hundreds of Greensboro residents gathered outside the Melvin Municipal Building in downtown Greensboro to honor the life of Renee Nicole Good, the 37-year-old Minnesota woman killed during an ICE operation earlier this month.

The vigil brought together families, activists, faith leaders, and community members who stood in solidarity against ICE-related violence and remembered lives lost nationwide.

Good, a mother of three, was fatally shot while driving her vehicle during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. Video of the incident circulated widely, sparking outrage, grief, and renewed calls for accountability.

At the Greensboro vigil, attendees laid flowers, lit candles, and displayed handmade signs bearing Good’s name and messages calling for justice and reform.

Residents reflect and stand in solidarity

Greensboro resident Rob Holt, who attended with his wife, said the vigil created space for people from different backgrounds to connect.

“This isn’t about politics,” Holt said. “It’s about being a good person and standing up when something is wrong.”

Organizers encouraged residents to stay engaged, support one another, and continue advocating for justice beyond the vigil.
