SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — A Mount Airy man accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile has been arrested and now faces more than a dozen charges, according to the Surry County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say 29-year-old Erik Claude Willard, of Mount Airy, was taken into custody on Sept. 9, 2025, following an ongoing sexual assault investigation.
Details of the Allegations
Deputies allege that Willard repeatedly assaulted a juvenile victim while acting in a position of guardianship. Authorities say the abuse involved multiple instances of sexual misconduct.
At the Surry County Magistrate’s Office in Dobson, Willard was served with warrants for the following charges:
- 4 counts of statutory rape of a child under the age of 15
- 4 counts of statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15
- 8 counts of sex act by a substitute parent/guardian
- 4 counts of indecent liberties with a child
Willard is currently being held in the Surry County Detention Center under a $3 million bond.
