NC Police Chief Post About Charlie Kirk Catching Much Heat After Assassination

NC Police Chief Post About Charlie Kirk

DURHAM, N.C. – NC police chief post about Charlie Kirk catching much heat is sparking intense debate and calls for resignation after comments surfaced on social media. Durham Police Chief Patrice Andrews, who has led the department since November 2021, is facing backlash over remarks she made on her private Facebook account about the conservative activist.

The post came just days after Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University, where he was shot in front of thousands of students during a speaking event. In her post, Andrews claimed Kirk “disguised himself as a Christian” and accused him of using “hate speech.”

Backlash and Petition

Screenshots of the post spread quickly online, prompting both support and outrage. Critics argue Andrews’ comments reveal bias that could compromise her ability to serve all residents fairly.

An online petition demanding Andrews’ resignation has since been launched, claiming her remarks:

  • Indicate a bias that questions her impartiality
  • Spark doubts about her ability to uphold the law without favoritism
  • Align her with “only a specific group, alienating others within our diverse community”

Meanwhile, supporters of the chief argue that she was speaking from a personal perspective on her private account and should not be punished for expressing her views.

“The City of Durham is aware of a personal social media post made by Police Chief Patrice Andrews. The post was made on the Chief’s personal account and not on any official City or Police Department platform. We are reviewing the matter to determine whether any City policies were violated,” the statement read.

City officials also noted that Chief Andrews was “not available for an interview” at this time.
