MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — An armed suspect is dead following a pursuit in Mount Airy on Wednesday, as confirmed by city officials. The incident occurred in the Flatrock area after a chase involving local law enforcement.
Police K-9 Killed: Draco Shot
During the pursuit, a police K-9 named Draco was shot and killed, according to the Mount Airy Police Department. Despite this tragic loss, no officers were harmed during the incident.
The City of Mount Airy released a statement about the event:
“Good afternoon, there was an armed suspect on the loose in the City/County. City and County Officers were in pursuit, and the armed suspect was located in the Flatrock area. The individual is now deceased. Unfortunately, our K-9 dog was shot, all other personnel are safe. More details to follow.”
