Trump makes more debunked claims about FEMA as he visits storm damage NC

SWANNANOA, N•C( AP)-Former President Donald Trump visited North Carolina to survey damage from Hurricane Helene and criticized FEMA, repeating debunked claims that the agency diverted disaster relief funds to assist undocumented immigrants. Despite FEMA’s assurances that no funds have been misappropriated, Trump insisted that resources were depleted due to this alleged diversion, and that he wasn’t concerned that the aftermath of Hurricane Helene would affects election results in the battleground state.

NORTH CAROLINA; TRUMP’S CRITICIZE HURRICANE RELIEF WORKERS

.Trump was asked if it was helpful to criticize Hurricane relief workers after the federal emergency management agency recently paused work in the area because of reports they could be targeted by millitia, he replied again assailing the agency and repeating the falsehood that the response was hampered, saying that FEMA spent it budget helping people who crossed the border illegally a claim refuted by officials including U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards. During his visit, Trump emphasized the need for additional relief funding and expressed support for a congressional session to address storm recovery.

Trump’s campaign and that of his democratic opponent, vice president Kamala Harris, are ramping up their campaign in the final two weeks before the election day.
