MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A woman shoots man who refused to pay her for sex at a Myrtle Beach motel, according to police and arrest warrants. The 29-year-old suspect, identified as Kelsey Lynn Miller, was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and prostitution.
Shooting Reported at Oceanfront Motel
Myrtle Beach police say the incident happened around 3:40 a.m. Thursday at the Polynesian Oceanfront Hotel, located at 1001 S. Ocean Boulevard. Officers were alerted after a ShotSpotter system detected gunfire near 9th Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found the male victim with a gunshot wound to his left arm. He had applied an improvised tourniquet to slow the bleeding before police arrived. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Dispute Over Money Led to Shooting
According to warrants, Miller had been communicating with the man on Reddit, Telegram, and through text messages. They agreed to meet at the motel for sex.
When the man arrived, Miller reportedly asked, “Where’s my money?” The victim allegedly told her he did not have money and would not pay. Miller then threatened, “If you don’t give me my money, I’ll go get my man.”
As the victim attempted to leave, Miller allegedly shot him at point-blank range in the tricep of his left arm.
Drugs and Weapon Charges Added
During the investigation, police found eight pills identified as Suboxone and a white powder that tested positive for fentanyl in Miller’s possession.
She has been charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Prostitution
- Possession of controlled substances
- Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
Police say a second person was also arrested in connection with the case, though their name has not yet been released.
Miller is currently being held without bond at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County.
