Boy, Woman Shot in Targeted Assault in East Raleigh Incident

RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman and a young boy were both injured in a targeted shooting Sunday evening in the Edgewater Townhomes neighbourhood of east Raleigh, police reported.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of Big Bass Drive, situated between Raleigh Beach Road and New Bern Avenue, close to the Neuse River. Upon arrival, first responders found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The Raleigh Police Department confirmed that the victims were quickly transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

According to Raleigh Police, the shooting appears to have been intentional rather than random. “There is no threat to the larger community,” police assured, emphasizing that this incident did not endanger other residents in the area. Multiple 911 calls were made reporting the shooting, adding urgency to the situation.

Both the woman and the boy were listed in stable condition as of Sunday night, and police are actively investigating this targeted assault. No additional details have been released at this time.
